Updated 11/26/18: Please note date change: Out of respect for Selectman Kevin Greeley’s family, and because of his wake, the November AHSBC Forum has been postponed to WEDNESDAY 11/28/18, 7pm at Town Hall.
The new high school is now in the Schematic Design phase. The AHS Building Committee invites the community to learn more and provide feedback for the next stage of decisions.
The next forum will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 7-9pm at Town Hall (snow date Nov. 28)
At the November forum, HMFH Architects, Skanska USA and the Building Committee will present:
- Project update, including front green design and sustainability planning
- Exterior design concepts (see a preview presentation)
- Site flow and traffic
- Concepts for reusing/recreating historic elements
At this forum, and through an online survey that will be available next week, feedback will be gathered about exterior design concepts, site layout and use of historic elements. The Building Committee will consider this feedback when they make significant decisions about these elements at their meeting on Dec. 4.
The January forum will take place on Jan. 14 (snow date Jan. 16) at Arlington High School from 7-9pm. This forum will feature an update on interior core space designs, and a discussion about project trade-offs, considering features vs. cost. The forum will be preceded by tours of the High School from 6:15-6:45pm for those interested.
During the Schematic Design phase, HMFH Architects will take the preliminary massing diagrams and create a refined design that will establish the look and feel of the building and site. The end result will be a building and site design with enough detail to establish scope, budget and schedule for the new Arlington High School. The AHS Building Committee will be evaluating all possibilities, aiming to maintain educational and community priorities while minimizing cost.
