Phase 4, the final phase of the Arlington High School Building project, includes construction of two additional synthetic turf multi-sport fields and a Minuteman Bikeway connector. This final phase is anticipated to be completed by September 2025.
Following are the site impacts to the area during Phase 4 construction:
- Beginning Feb 19, the traffic signal at Mill Brook Drive and Mill Street will be fully operational.
- Abatement of Downs House will begin Feb 17 and run for approximately 3 weeks. During this time, two shifts will run (7am – 3pm, 3pm-11pm). Minimal traffic impacts to the site are expected.
- Demolition of Downs House is anticipated to take place from March 3 – mid April. During this time, increased truck traffic is expected on Mill Brook Drive. During demolition, trucks will enter/exit the site from 6am – 7am, halt from 7am – 9am so as not to impact to drop-off on Mill Brook Drive, and resume from 9am – to roughly 2pm.
- During demolition, water trucks, street sweepers, and staff will be employed to reduce dust on the construction site and surrounding areas.
- Starting Feb 17, Peirce Field will only be accessible from Schouler Court. There will not be access to Peirce Field from Mill Brook Drive during Phase 4. Parking for Peirce Field events is at the new west parking lot off of Schouler Court. A protected pedestrian pathway leads from the west parking lot to the field.
- Rodent control will remain through the duration of Phase 4 construction. The Project team is working closely with Modern Pest Control to ensure locations are adjusted appropriately to account for the Phase 4 logistics changes.
