At the project’s fourth community forum, over 100 residents got updates on site selection, current and future programming needs and preliminary massing diagrams.
After hearing Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine give a recap of the committee’s decision to keep the high school on the current site, AHS principal Matthew Janger gave a summary of the current AHS programming and future space needs.
The bulk of the evening included an overview and discussion with HMFH Architects about eight preliminary massing concepts. ‘Early massing concepts’ are used to give general direction for design, such as:
- Keeping and renovating original components of the current facility
- Building an all new facility
- Building on all or part of the front lawn
- Building wings on the back of the complex
At the end of the evening, attendees were asked to give their feedback on their top three preferences. This feedback will be used in conjunction with other considerations to help the committee select several designs to further refine and explore at their April 10th meeting.
